Our website project

One of the Centenary Projects, funded with assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund, was the creation of a website which, when linked to another of the Projects, the establishment of a fully catalogued and researchable Palace Theatre Archive, would enable interested parties to learn more about the theatre’s history and view its extensive collection of memorabilia. The website is also intended to provide a forum for the community to comment on, and seek information about, the theatre.

As the Palace Theatre Club did not have its own website, and since the Club owns the Archive material, it was decided to design this as the Club’s website, with the Archive and Community Forum extremely important components. The website therefore also contains information about the Palace Theatre Club, including its history and the awards it presents. There is also a comprehensive history of the theatre and a section about the Centenary events that took place throughout 2012.

This website was officially launched on Saturday 6th December 2014, at the Palace Theatre Club’s monthly social event, when, with technical assistance from Brian Warrens, it was displayed on a large screen and archivist David Simpson guided members through the various sections.

It, and the Club’s Archive, are very much the legacy of our Centenary year. We hope they will both continue to grow for the next 100 years – and beyond!
