In aid of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Help Society and the British Civil Prisoners' Aid Fund. Will King was a local man. He (playing the lead character), his wife and their daughter Phyllis all acted in this comedy play. Seats in the orchestra stalls were provided, free of charge, for wounded soldiers at least at two shows. One was the Saturday matinee, where 70 wounded soldiers were paid for by the Essex County Croquet Club. The show raised "upwards of £50" for both charities.Productions by decade
