Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

  • Does anyone remember who played Joseph in this production? I went to see it with my school and as we were all walking up the stairs Lionel Blair was walking down. I am not sure of the year but would of been between 1976-1979.
I have this vague memory that the actor playing Joseph had something to do with basil brush?

  • Hi Trudi,
‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ has been performed three times at the Palace, all within your time frame! The first time was in April 1976, and that was such a success that the show was brought back in April 1977 and May 1979. But you saw it in April 1976, as Lionel Blair was there for ‘Boeing-Boeing’, a comedy that followed ‘Joseph’. And you are correct about the actor who played Joseph: That was Roy North, who went on to play “Mr Roy” with Basil Brush. (Indeed, he was playing Joseph in the West End when the got the call!)
    Lovely memories!
    Best wishes,
